Derailments, God's Will, and the Badgers
There are many examples in the Old Testament of individuals who failed to heed God's directions and had to deal with often terrible consequences of their decisions. Moses never got to live in the promised land because he struck the rock. Samson was captured because of his confession to Delilah. Cain was banished. I am not sure, but I think I may have caused a train wreck this past weekend.
Hubby had been asking if we could go to the Wisconsin Badger football game this past weekend. They were playing Purdue. Evidently, he thought it would be fun not only to travel two states away, but then bundle our children up in scarves, hats, mittens, and long underwear only to have them pee their pants. We would take these wet bundles and seat them in hard stadium seats which tend to swallow young children unless you make sure they weigh enough by feeding them regular rounds of nachos, hot dogs, cotton candy, and other sticky foods which you find two days later in their hair. At some point these wet, sticky bundles decide they are no longer comfortable in their assigned seats. This usually happens in the first quarter. They would be much more comfortable fighting over who gets which quadrant of their mother's lap. Next, the baby will need to be breast fed. Sounds like fun, huh?
Actually, I do think going to games is fun. Which is why my husband has not left me for a Packer cheerleader. Not yet. But, I did not want to go to this game. I didn't have any great reasons. True, I didn't want to spend all that money and we have already been to one game this year. So I told him, I would rather not go this time - And what happens?
Friday night a 80 car train carrying ethanol derails 4 blocks from our house. Several cars explode and we are evacuated, forcing us to spend money on a hotel and eat out for two days. Does this mean God is a Badger fan?
